REVOLUTIONARY NEW RADAR ANTENNAS FOR NAVSTATION®

Simrad has launched sophisticated new Radar antennas for its new range of navigation products, NavStation®. The DX45 and DX60, designed and manufactured by Simrad, provide the NavStation range with superior Radar performance for improved safety at sea and enhanced navigation capabilities.

A key innovation of the DX antennas and NavStation is the provision of high definition dual range Radar. Created at the Simrad Design Centre for Navigation and dubbed multiVision, this new technology can take one close range Radar image and a longer range image and place them side by side on the NavStation screen in real time, essentially providing two fully independent Radars in one unit. This allows users to have a clear picture of what is going on around them whilst keeping a close eye on the bigger picture to aid early planning of navigation waypoints and routes.

The boat speed adaptive antenna rotation feature of the DX antennas enables the user to set a threshold for the automatic change of antenna rotation speed within the range of 20 – 50 rpm, according to the boat’s speed. If a boat accelerates the antenna will automatically adjust the speed of reception at the user defined threshold in order to increase Radar update on screen and provide safer navigation at speed.

The new super-sensitive receiver in the DX antennas gives a clearer picture by enabling the NavStation to utilise the entire Radar signal dynamics. This and the extremely clean transmitter modulation provides an even higher resolution picture enabling the clear separation of objects to present a less confusing screen and requiring less guesswork by the navigator.

Simrad’s NavStation range, through the use of the new Radar antennas and sophisticated software design provide greatly enhanced Radar functions including Radar overlay with Head Up or North Up mode, additionally, moving vessels are easily separated from fixed objects or land by using the NavStation’s inbuilt trail feature.

The DX Radar antennas for NavStation are available in two antenna sizes that both provide 4KW of power. The DX45 has a 1.5ft scanner and a 28nm range whilst the DX60 features a 2ft scanner with a 36nm range. Both antennas have been designed to provide a stylish new low-profile and aerodynamic look, which match modern boat design and reflects the sophisticated technology inside.

Installation and integration to NavStation is easy with no separate power box or software upgrading required. All in all, the Radomes are lighter, more attractive and easier to instal making them the perfect partner for the NavStation family.

Combined with the powerful new DX Radar antennas featuring multiVision, NavStation gives yachtsmen and motorboat owners the most powerful, flexible and functional navigation system on the market for leisure boaters today. For further information on the NavStation range and multiVision radar, visit
