DVD Upgrade Kit CS5X/6X Chart Systems

Background
From 01.01.06, C-Map has started to distribute their charts on DVD medium instead of CD.
This is because of their chart database has grown steadily over time in size and does not fit to a CD anymore.

CM93 Edition 2 will still be distributed on CD’s. Also the CM93/3 Professional Charts will still be distributed on CD’s, but new coverage will not be added, only updates will be maintained.

The CM93/3 Professional+ DVD Edition will be the new standard database. In addition the CM-ENC charts will also be delivered in DVD format.

Systems not affected...
All older systems using C-Map Edition 2 Charts.

Systems affected
CS55, CS56, CS65, CS66, CS68 and SPS2000 systems.

DVD Upgrade Kit
The DVD upgrade kit contains a tested DVD Player, license and a description on how to install. This kit is intended for CS55, CS56, CS65 and CS66

Note! Do not use this kit on CS68 ECDIS systems or SPS2000 SYSTEMS, as they will be handled by the External upgrade kit.


External DVD Upgrade Kit
The External DVD upgrade kit contains only an external DVD Writer. It will enable the systems to read Charts in DVD format.

Please note that the Chart Systems and DVD players are type approved and fitting DVD players or external drives other than those above will void the type approvals. Dealers are advised to send in the unit requiring upgrades but give us notice to arrange the DVD kit as it will not be a stock item.

It should also be mentioned that any type approved (Wheelmarked) navigation electronic product supplied by Quin Marine must only have factory approved and / or supplied parts fitted. We are finding repairs coming in with low quality components fitted and things such as Lithium batteries, sourced from local suppliers, which have been modified to fit.
